League History & Membership Information
The Inter-City Dart League (ICDL) is North America’s oldest continuous running league, established in 1946 by World War II veteran Richard Walker upon returning to Toronto, Ontario, Canada after the war.
The ICDL offers competition for novice, intermediate, and advanced players; everyone is welcome to join. As a non-profit organization, our league begins to play in mid-October and continues throughout the winter months on Thursday nights until the end of April. We also encourage friendly competition that respects the League’s rules and that also demonstrates the best of sportsmanship.
Our format consists of two games of triples 701 [single in, double out (SIDO)], three games of doubles 601 (SIDO), followed by three games of doubles cricket, and the night finishes with six singles matches of 501 (SIDO). We have annual member-only tournaments such as The Intercity Shoot (singles & doubles), The Ladies Shoot (singles & mixed doubles), The Intercity Teams Shoot, and The All-Star Tournament (the top 16 players with the highest individual scores in the league).
Our season concludes with a banquet held in May for all of our league members and their guests. During this time of celebration and member comradery, awards will be presented with the much-cherished Richard Walker Cup being bestowed to the Champions.
