Spring 2020 Season Suspension Update

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, and we're quite proud of the dart community for coming together to continue to find ways to play remotely. We also wanted to share some contingency plans we've been working on in the chance we might be able to resume play.

Had we been able to resume play by last week, we could have had a full season (by compressing the playoff schedule), but obviously that isn't going to happen. It all depends on when bars are allowed to reopen and what potential restrictions might be in place. We may be too optimistic, but here are some scenarios we're making plans for.

If we can resume play by the week of May 18, we can play a half-season with a normal playoff schedule. If we can resume play by June 1 (maybe June 8 at a stretch), we could play a half season with a compressed playoff schedule. If severe restrictions last beyond that, we'll hope to see everyone in the Fall.

And while we're all trying to maintain a positive outlook in these trying times, we want to acknowledge that members of our league and darting community have lost friends and loved ones to this pandemic; our prayers and love go out to them.

Some of our host bars are trying to stay open for take-out or have posted fund-raising campaigns--we know a lot of us are hurting, but let's support them if we can so we can play there when this is finally over.

Let us know if you have questions and stay safe, keep playing as you can, and we'll all be back at the oche soon!

Fall 2020 Season Cancelled

***NYDL Fall 2020 Season Cancelled ***

We hope all NYDL darters (and your families) are keeping healthy and safe during this pandemic.

Unfortunately, until bars and restaurants in the city fully re-open for business without COVID-related social distancing restrictions, bar sports like darts and pool will not be allowed. At this point it is clear that NYDL will not be able to run a Fall 2020 season.

And while we can all hold out hope for Spring 2021, that's not guaranteed, either.

When the league does return--and we will--it will be to a very different landscape. We're aware that many people have relocated outside the NYC area and many of them will not return. As for our dedicated host bars, we are already seeing casualties, with several venerable host establishments closing their doors for good. So far that includes Tempest Bar, Bleecker Street Bar, Professor Thom's, Horsebox, McSwiggans, and Hog Pit.

So for the foreseeable future, we very much miss seeing everyone and wish you and your families good health and safety. Keep on playing if you can, and we'll see you when we see you.

If anyone learns of other dart bar closings, feel free to post them here.

Stay safe.

Spring 2020 Season Suspended

As we've all watched the coronavirus spread accelerate, cases of COVID-19 rise in New York City and the region, and now that the city has ordered all bars and restaurants closed, continuing the dart season has become untenable.

Therefore, we are suspending the NYDL Spring 2020 season until further notice.

League management is planning possibilities of resuming the season once it becomes possible, which could still result in a full or a shortened season, depending on how the situation unfolds.

We will be back with further notices as the pandemic situation develops and clarifies. In the meantime, and more importantly, stay safe, healthy, support each other, keep practicing as you can.
